She's Long Gone

Hey, what are you looking at?
I’m just a lifeless body…
You had tears running down your cheeks,
When you saw me broken and bloody.

I’m not who you think I am,
Just to tell you, she’s long gone…
I’m just what she left behind,
She’s the brains and I’m the brawn.

I’m not the one who hugged you,
But the arms that squeezed you tight.
I’m not the one who loved you,
I just mouthed the words, “Good night.”

I hardly even know you.
Should’ve left me on the ground.
But here we are together,
And I like this love I’ve found.

What I Am

I am the creature high in the air,
When you so think I am Superman.
I am just flying by as you stare,
Imagining hope in my wingspan.

I am the yellow eyes in the dark,
When you think that they’re sunlight.
My claws are poised, my fangs like a shark;
You will stay in this cave one more night.

I am the water in the dessert,
When you’re parched and in need of a drink.
As you run closer there is just dirt;
A mirage will make your heart sink.

I am the space shuttle’s heat-proof tile,
When you‘re watching me land from the ground.
There’s fire and smoke and now only I smile;
In fire the poor Challenger drowned.

I am all things that can disappoint
Or sway you fro and to.
But I do believe you get my point.
You get my point, don’t you?
